about

In December of 2022 we were literally snowed in and our flight out of town was cancelled due to the heavy storm. Well with unexpected time on our hands what else would we do but write a Christmas song!

"Ol' Christmas Mission" plays into our collective desire to make Christmas "special". These feelings are often based on our early, youthful Christmas experiences. Throughout life the pressure to make Christmas "wonderful" can be a lot to manage. So the lyrics slide through the years and touch on different times of life. The ol' Christmas mission of the title is about bringing something truly special back to the season and creating a warm, safe welcoming place for one and all.
A song of hope, of realizing dreams and being reunited with loved ones at Christmas.
Happy Holidays from Crash World!

Lyrics:
Verse #1:
I’m coming home this year in December
Back to a town and a place I remember
We’ll turn back the clock on the ol' Christmas Mission
Restore to the neighbourhood one of the oldest traditions
Now the holiday season hit hard in the last few years
Dealt us some blows, some sadness and tears
But remember our spark, as bright as the Northern Star
Tryin’ to stuff that tree into the back of our old car

Chorus:
So take a deep breath, when you hear feet on the stairs
We’ll do right by Christmas, angels answered our prayers
Then I hear your laughter and I know your name,
And share in a moment, that’s not a dream anymore

Verse #2:
At the ol’ mission house help serve Christmas dinner
It doesn’t matter if you’re a saint or a sinner
The sound of the church bells ring out with their call
Shouts of “Merry Christmas!” reminds us of the child in us all

Chorus:
So take a deep breath as we open the doors
The ol’ Christmas Mission has been restored,
Then I see your smile and I know your face
And share in a moment, that’s not a dream anymore

Bridge:
Christmas can weigh heavy as the years go passing by
Oh what a tangled web we weave over time

Verse #3:
Another Christmas in the city shelter
It's 20 below and that’s just for starters
They say this year the cold will set records
And I’m sitting here reading through your old letters
She slipped away from me, so many years ago
And every Christmas I think about her so
Under the mistletoe, lost in each others eyes
Making our plans to be together for all time

Chorus:
So take a deep breath, when you hear my feet on the stairs
I'm home for Christmas, angels answered our prayers
You hear me stomp off snow on the landing
Heart pounds as you reach for the door
Then swing it wide open and look in my eyes
And share in a moment, that’s not a dream anymore
Share in a moment, that’s not a dream anymore
Share in a moment, that’s not a dream . . . anymore
